“Trimmed with antique luxury, she is a lady of the Canyon” (Joni Mitchell) - At home, in Ambaar Bazaar.

Hello folks!

So it’s been a while since my last blog post, and if I’m honest life has been a little bit hectic and I just haven’t quite found the time these last few months, nor feeling quite as inspired to write as I usually might be… I think the Winter months are like that sometimes, after all it is a hibernation period.

However in recent weeks I’ve been feeling a little more inspired, maybe it’s the festive season or maybe it’s these beautiful garms I recieved recently from a wonderful small business, Ambaar Bazaar If you know me then you know nothing puts a smile on my face quite like a beautifully crafted garment!

Chloe at Ambaar Bazaar curates a range of vintage clothing alongside her own label of vintage inspired pieces produced in small batches by talented artisans in Pushkar, India. Her online shop is everything I love about slow fashion and supporting small businesses.

In this set of photos I’m wearing the Afghan silk dress which is crafted from vintage afghan embroidered yokes and Indian sari silk fabrics. This design is inspired by traditional vintage afghan dresses which are among my favourite pieces to wear and collect, the cut and style of these dresses is so effortless and the pieces really speak for themselves!

I love how each one is super unique and how visible the quality of the craftsmanship is in each piece. I’m really loving the contrast of the ikat pattern of the bust on mine against the tartan printed skirt and sleeves, it really is a wearable work of art!

The blue velvet jacket I’m wearing is the “Florence” embroidered jacket which is crafted from a luxurious 100% cotton velvet, with cotton lining and traditional Suzani embroidery.

This jacket reminds me of a fancy vintage house coat and I am loving the vibrancy, quality and heaviness of this piece, it makes it the ideal jacket for these colder months and a perfect piece for layering with other textiles. Comparable to the quality to vintage pieces I own which have stood the test of time, I’m sure this one will too, becoming a future vintage heirloom piece.

It was lovely to model these pieces which have brought me so much joy lately against the tapestries of my home, if there’s one thing about me it’s that I love to collect and curate vibrant textiles and intricate artifacts from far away lands and bring them into our home creating my own landscape of colour and texture.
